Shotcrete - What is Shotcrete? - wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotcrete

Shotcrete is concrete (or sometimes mortar) conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a construction technique.
Shotcrete is usually an all-inclusive term that can be used for both wet-mix and dry-mix versions. In the pool construction trade however, the term "shotcrete" refers to wet-mix and "gunite" refers to dry-mix; in this context, these two terms are not interchangeable.
Shotcrete undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due to the force with which it is projected from the nozzle. It can be impacted onto any type or shape of surface, including vertical or overhead areas.

  1. Dear Colleagues,

The Kalmatron® company in which NRD Industries represents was founded by
Dr. Alex V. Rusinoff, who discovered the Kalmatron® concept in 1982.

For polyfiber it is about 5 to 7 kg per cum and for steel it is 25 to 30kg cum.
Any type of fiber recommended to be added into the concrete batch to increase structural integrity between cement paste and aggregates. Therefore, the fibers is a substitute to insufficiency of cement paste. In tunnels shotcreting fibers causes additional batch plasticizing resulting in shrinkage cracking and still can't prevent clogs into the hoses and excessive nozzle vibration. And of course, tunnel isolation by membranes is a strong necessity also.

We have excellent experience with KALMATRON KF-A admixture in tunnels shotcreting and especially with repair of old aqueduct where 3/4" thick plaster applied on bare concrete without membranes to stop leakages of underground water and crude oil. Please, visit
www.shieldcrete.com where you will find mix design and to see simple shotcrete application.Standard economical comparison shown on attached page.

    COST SHOTCRETE ECONOMY -

This is a temporary solutions created by such as mono, poly, oily, epoxy, bitumen, etc. based coatings even with premix of Fluorocarbon Based Polymer. With changing of ambient temperature, humid and direction of hydraulic pressure they loosing bond with supposed to be protected structure, cracking and blistering.

The main reason there are not following to the main properties of concrete coatings as follows:
Requirements imposed upon any Protective Cover Compositions (PCC).
    1. PCC should become property of concrete and cannot depend on its initial characteristics to provide barrier against corrosive media.
    2. Functional PCC penetrability into the concrete to assure continuous adhesion and reconstruction of concrete matrix on damaged depth.
    3. Uniformity of PCC distribution properties over the structure to be protected.
Structured Nano-Acrylic Polymers the same concept of applicability has been observed for Bitumens, Epoxy, Acrylic, Polymers, Nano, Silicones, Liquid glass, etc.
The main disadvantage with epoxy adhesives is that they are very rigid if left unmodified. This rigidity results in lower impact resistance and peel strength than required for some applications. One way of modifying epoxy adhesives systems to provide greater toughness is to blend or co-react the epoxy with a more flexible elastomer such as polyurethane.

Do not hesitate to ask about sample for your trials even on a job site.

This technology brings a new economical concept, where KALMATRON® KF-A reduces the cost per square foot of concrete up to 2 times. Our clients say:
”We can not afford to work without KALMATRON®.”
The most economical on The World Market.

    Best regards,
    Mr. Dilip Shah/Dr. Alex Rusinoff
